If you look closely at this picture, you can see the small dots of light at the horizon. They are cargo ships! Diego had mentioned seeing these before the monsoon season. But now, he says, there are lots lots lots more ships out there. To me, it almost looks like a small town on the horizon - except the horizon is in the middle of the Arabian Sea!
On clear nights, you can see these ships all night long. I assume that they are there during the day, but just not observable to the naked eye.
